Hardwood floors are classic, versatile and radiate natural beauty. Triumph, one of our new 2019 floors, is no different. Triumph combines the character and charm of three individual species of wood while the staining, hand scraping, and finishing techniques bring visual harmony.

Inspiration

Since hardwood floors are timeless, we wanted to create a unique design for the person who likes classic styles and is inspired by the beauty of wood in its most natural form. To achieve this, we blended three of today’s most popular hardwoods– oak, hickory, and maple – resulting in a truly special look for the home.

Décor Styles

Due to its versatility, Triumph floors typically complement every type of interior home décor style. My personal favorite home styles for Triumph are Bohemian/Global and Farmhouse.

Color Palette Recommendations

There are three colors offered in the Triumph family: Platinum, Silver and Gold. These colors capture the warmth, texture, and natural allure of Triumph’s seamless wood blends. If you’re looking for a color palette that allows the floors to stand out, go for terracotta and neutral tones. For those who prefer a pop of color, choose pinks, blues, and reds.

Styling Tips

Because Triumph works so well with Bohemian/Global styled homes, I suggest a Moroccan-inspired Kilim rug—the contrast of color against the wood will make your room effortlessly stylish. Add other neutral Bohemian décor like a peacock chair, pillows and other wicker elements to finish the look. Check out my trend board below for design inspiration!

5 Reasons Why Hardwood Flooring Will Never Go Out of Style

  |   By  |  0 Comments

If you are building a home or are renovating an existing one, selecting the flooring for your various living spaces can be a complicated challenge. With so many floor types available and the pros and cons of each, the decision can be a bit overwhelming. The unique needs of your family and the area in which you live can play a key role in what you select. But one thing seems to be certain, those who select hardwood flooring don’t regret it. And additionally, hardwood flooring will never go out of style.

If you’re looking to replace your flooring in your home, hardwood flooring may be at the top of your list. Of all the flooring trends in recent years and historically, hardwood flooring has become a mainstay in homes all over the world. But what is it exactly about hardwood floors that make them so popular and in such high demand?

  1. Hardwood flooring offers classical elegance. The Palace of Versailles, even though it was originally built as a hunting lodge by Louis XIII, is well-known as one of the most beautiful palaces in the world. Today’s intricately patterned wood floors get their name from Versailles which has boasted exquisitely detailed hardwood floors for centuries.

  2. Hardwood floors are easy to clean. Regular cleaning by sweeping or dusting with a micro-fiber brush and occasional mopping with a misting hardwood cleaner can help keep your wood floors in condition for years to come.

  3. Hardwood flooring is long-lasting. When choosing to install hardwood flooring, homeowners will benefit because the flooring will remain in style, but also because wood flooring naturally lasts longer, especially when it is well cared for. In fact, the life span of a wood floor can exceed 100 years. Further, a screen and recoat process can refresh the coating and restore the luster of the floor.

  4. Hardwood flooring continues to improve with technology and new finishes. New technology has created engineered hardwood which layers multiple pieces of wood together. This approach makes the hardwood even more durable and helps increase moisture resistance.

  5. Hardwood floor is high in value. While hardwood flooring can cost more than many other types of flooring at the time of installation, it also holds in value and can increase the value of your home. Many older homes still have their original hardwood as it is designed and installed to last for decades. Not only that, but many homeowners like the historical feeling of hardwood floors.

What are the most popular types of hardwood floors?

If you have decided that wood flooring is the choice for you, the next step is to decide on what kind of wood to use. This decision is best considered by taking into account the overall style of your home and the preferred décor. While any wood flooring is popular and will add value to your home, there are certain types of wood that are more popular than others.

Oak is the most common type of wood flooring in the United States. Homeowners like oak for its low cost and overall versatility. Further, oak is very resistant to dents and deep gouges and is an excellent choice for homeowners who do not wish to use an area rug. Further, oak can be stained a wide variety of colors and in most cases will have an obvious grain pattern. If oak is not for you, other popular choices include hickory, maple, ash, pine, cherry, Brazilian cherry, walnut, and birch.

No matter what wood flooring you select, chances are you will love the end result. Provided that you take good care of your floors with regular dusting, sweeping, and light mopping, you can be assured that your hardwood flooring will last through the years and help you to build history in your home.

Mannington Makeovers: A Home Tour with Coua Xiong from Cozy Family Home

  |   By  |  0 Comments

Coua Xiong

Coua Xiong, a personal coach and founder of cozyfamilyhome.com, doesn’t have a definition for her home décor style. After building a new brand from the ground up, having her fourth baby and selling her family home she decided there were specific words she wanted to inspire the décor in her home. Cozy. Family. Rustic. Simple. Clean. Bright.

Coua realized her former home had so many quirks and things that didn’t make sense for her family, so she wanted to ensure her new home was full of functionality and joy. “We knew every nook and cranny in the new build needed to have a reason behind why it was being added, how it would be used, and what kind of feeling the space would invoke,” she says.

Coua chose to not only install Mannington floors in her entire home, but selected three different types! Throughout her house she has ADURA®Max vinyl plank, Restoration Collection® laminate and vinyl sheet (details below). Continue reading to find out why Coua chose these floors and how she incorporated them into her home design.

Coua found one of the most important tasks of her home remodel was picking out the right flooring. She didn’t want hardwood floors and decided on laminate for the main areas in her home – an open concept kitchen, dinette, and great room. “I chose Mannington’s Restoration Collection® Blacksmith Oak in the color Steam because the color variation is beautiful,” she says. “I love the mix of gray, brown, and beige. Plus, it is a super durable product, easy to clean, and you can’t beat the price!”

Because of its durability and easy maintenance, Coua extended the laminate into her pantry, mudroom and kids’ hallway.

For the smaller rooms (laundry and powder bathrooms), she chose vinyl sheet patterns Oceana, Color: Sand Dollar and Deco, Color: Wrought Iron. “Smaller rooms and printed flooring are the perfect match,” she says.

In the master bathroom, she decided to go with ADURA®Max Cape May, Color: Seagull. “I loved that there were a variety of choices for these products” she says.

When people are looking for flooring, Coua recommends three key things: function, quality and color. “Functionality is key and advises you to ask yourself these questions: Does this flooring make sense here? What am I using this room for? Is this a high traffic area? What is the wear and tear? How do I clean this floor?”

She also states that the quality of the flooring is of utmost importance. “Read ALL the reviews and ask questions,” she advises. “Definitely do your homework before making a selection. I would 100% recommend Mannington floors to anyone who is in the new market for new flooring.”

As for picking out a color, that’s a personal choice. For example, Coua knew she needed a mid-tone color floor since her home is located out in the country and with country living comes dirt. Mid-tone colors are good for disguising anything that tracks in.

At the end of the day, Coua says “Design for you and your family and above all, do what makes you happy!”

Ultimate Guide to Vinyl Plank Flooring

  |   By  |  0 Comments

As the leader in vinyl plank flooring, Mannington has put together a guide that details everything you need to know about vinyl plank floors. Learn about benefits, common misconceptions, installation, cleaning and more.

Vinyl Plank Flooring Options

Vinyl planks allow you to achieve the look of hardwood or tile at a fraction of the cost. They are all waterproof, easy to clean and maintain, scratch resistant and more. Learn more about the most popular types of vinyl plank floors:

Expanded Polymer Core (WPC): Manufactured with a rigid expanded PVC core instead of a solid PVC backing, WPCs have tiny air pockets in the core that create great sound properties in a space. This expanded core is joined with a traditional thin LVT Cap to create it’s visual and usually has an attached pad on the back to create softness under foot. Most WPC products have a locking system and are installed as a floating floor requiring no glue.

Solid Polymer Core (SPC): This type of flooring includes a solid PVC core with a thin traditional LVT cap to create the visual. This solid un-plasticized core is incredibly stiff and tough with great indentation and temperature stability properties. This product is also generally a floating floor and can be installed without any glue.

Traditional Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT): Traditional LVT floor is composed of multiple layers of flexible PVC making it much less stiff then the rigid core products. It is composed of a scratch resistant wearlayer, a decorative/image layer and a durable flexible backing layer and is known to be stable and reliable. Most Traditional LVT requires adhesive and is glued to the floor in an installation.
